'There, There Now...'

by Jason Charles Randall

There was a glimmer in your eyes
A spirit of good will I used to recognize
With a smile as wide as I recall
Who knows what happened
but you took a fall

You learned to smile by force from jobs of waitressing
Pulled double shifts to make up for your well being
If I knew damage was what you wanted in a guy
I would have tried my best to make you want to cry

There, there now
Wipe away your tears
There's no one around to have to hide behind those fears
There' there now
Wipe away your tears
I hope this isn't still your life in a couple years

There was a glimmer in your eyes
A spirit of good will that I used to recognize
With a smile as wide as I recall
Now I know what happened
To make you take a fall
